2.7 Fuel tank. The fuel tank shall have sufficient capacity to provide a range of
201 kilometers (km) and a reserve capacity of 40 km at a speed of 64 kilometers per hour (km/h).
2.8 Transmission. The transmission shall not have less than 5 forward speeds.
2.9 Skid plate. The skid plate shall be made to manufacturer's standards.
2.10 Light kill switch. The light kill switch shall remove power from all lights (including brake lights) except engine warning lights.
2.11 Rear registration number and data plate. The rear registration plate shall be of a size equal to motorcycle standard license plates, and shall be mounted on the rear license plate bracket
(see 6.2).
2.12 Wheels, tires and tubes. Wheels shall include heavy duty safety rims and shall be of the wire spoke type. The tread shall be Department of Transportation (DoT) approved trails universal (semi-knobby) type for use on both on-road and off-road travel. Inner tubes shall be of the heavy duty type. Wheels, tires and tire size designation systems shall conform to the Tire and Rim Association recommendations.
2.13 Painting and identification marking. Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract order (see 6.2), identification markings, data plates, treatment, and painting shall be permanent and legible. The gas tank, left and right side covers, steel skid plate and luggage rack shall be painted. In addition, if chrome plated, the following parts shall be removed, reverse electroplated to strip the chrome and shall be painted: horn, handle bars, luggage rack, headlight ring and mounting hardware, wheel rims, chain adjusting mechanism, and rear brake lever. Bright chrome plating on the front fork shall be covered with a flexible, lusterless, black boot or lusterless black tubing. Other chrome plated bolts, nuts, and small brackets need not be reverse electroplated and painted. Bright finish aluminum wheel rims and bright finish aluminum rear swing arms shall be painted. The bright finish on the edge of the engine cylinder cooling fins shall be painted with a suitable lusterless heat resistant black paint. Decals shall be removed from all surfaces prior to painting. All parts that are reverse electroplated, bright finish aluminum wheel rims and bright finish aluminum rear swing arms shall be suitably treated and primed prior to painting. Gas tank, front and rear fenders, and left and right side covers shall be lightly sanded and treated to provide good paint adhesion prior to painting. Flaking of paint due to flexing of flexible plastic parts will be acceptable. Such parts will be repainted by the Government as necessary. Otherwise, the treatment and painting shall not be detrimental to any function of the vehicle and all warranties
and performance requirements shall be met with the vehicle painted as specified herein.
